South County Cats Girl Scouts Our GS troop has been working on their Bronze award (for service) and they have been making cat toys and beds, volunteering at adoption events and took a tour of the Seattle Humane Society in Bellevue. The biggest event was that on Monday and Wednesday last week they had a cat food drive and, thanks to the generous donations of Maple Valley residents and QFC for allowing them to use their facility, the girls were able to collect 361 cans of wet cat food, 91 lbs. of dry cat food, $458.80 cash donations and a kitty toy. This food was a blessing to South County Cats who were very low on food.

South County Cats is a local non-profit organization that provides spay/neuter assistance for feral and free roaming cats and for companion cats whose caregivers have limited financial resources. They also foster under socialized cats and kittens to increase their adoptability.

The Hobart Market will have a collection box for the next month in case someone missed the event and wants to donate food.
