The weather was perfect on Saturday, August 20, for the Maple Valley Fire & Life
Safety to hold its 3rd annual Open House. At this open house they had a BBQ that
included hot dogs, hamburgers, soda, chips, popcorn and snow cones. Free fire hats,
stickers, bracelets, and coloring books were given to the kids. Kids were able to
climb on the fire trucks, use a fire hose, complete an obstacle course, jump in
the jumpy house and slide down the slide. The Safety Trailer was on hand to show
everyone how to get out of a fire and everyone was encouraged to make an escape
plan for their home and to practice exit drills. Maple Valley Police, Special Ops,
Sparky the Fire Dog were just a few of the attendees at this event. If you missed
this event, you missed a lot of fun but not to worry, you can attend it next year
for their 4th annual event! Photos by Traci Hipple.
