Jim’s campaign is based on being your citizen advocate to District 43 for both the
rural and urban areas. Jim believes in providing equal fire and life safety services
for everyone. ”We must live within the current budget frame- work while maintaining
services at just the right level, and do our best not to impose an excessive tax
burden or regulations on the citizens and businesses of District 43”. Jim has and
will continue to listen to the citizens and business owners of the area.
Our community is geographically diverse, requiring different responses to urban
and rural areas. By acknowledging minimum response times, necessary equipment and
personnel for different situations, we can ensure appropriate and cost-effective
total community Fire and Life Safety protection. This is especially important as
the community grows.
Increased demand in services will occur with increased traffic to the future Fred
Meyer Shopping Center within the City of Maple Valley. The Maple Valley “Donut Hole”
is another area for future planning and growth. The City of Black Diamond is planning
on expanding (YarrowBay Development) with the potential of increasing traffic by
more than 6000 plus vehicles a day in and around Maple Valley and surrounding communities
such as Ravensdale and Hobart.
As your advocate, Jim Callow is committed to planning ahead and having well trained,
prepared and equipped professionals. Planning for the future requires an advocate
committed to our quality of life. Effective, open and honest communications to the
citizens is important to keep the community informed of the challenges ahead, needed
to maintain Fire and Life Safety at the correct community levels.
Jim Callow has served on the Greater Maple Valley Area Council and is a long-time
resident who understands the challenges ahead of the Fire District. He is a Systems
Engineering Manager at The Boeing Company and a graduate of the University of Wyoming.
Jim served his Country in the U.S. Air Force and is a retired Officer. Jim is married
