Nine pies were submitted for the 2nd annual fresh fruit pie baking contest held
Saturday, August 27th at the Maple Valley Farmers' Market.
Three age categories for the contest included:
Youth ( 17 years old and under)
1st Place Winner: Eden Atwood (female) from Maple Valley; age 8; pie: Quadruple
Berry Pie (strawberry, raspberry, blackberry and blueberry).
2nd Place Winner: Natalie Fuchs of Maple Valley (no age given - youth category)

3rd Place Winner: Aliesha Rowland from Ravensdale; age 17; pie Cranapple Pie
Adult (18 - 49 years old)
1st Place Winner: Rachel Atwood from Maple Valley; age 32; pie: Peach Blackberry

2nd Place Winner: Michelle Smart from Maple Valley; (no age given - adult); pie:
Raspberry-peach pie
3rd Place Winner: Lori Newton from Maple Valley; (no age given - adult); pie: Peach
& Cherry pie
Senior (over 50)
1st Place Winner: Loretta Gommi from Maple Valley; pie: Blueberry Crumb Pie
2nd Place Winner: Diane Thom of Maple Valley; pie: Peach pie
The pie judges included Tahoma School District Director Mary Jane Glaser, Traci
Hipple, Cindy Svalsteff, Nick Castagna, and Councilmember Layne Barnes.
