Brenna Stroup was named as one of the top 10 influential people at WSU.
Brenna Stroup, a 2009 Tahoma graduate, is an ASWSU District 1 Senator who is making
WSU a better place by getting involved. Stroup is a junior whose major is political
science. She is a member of the Young Democrats, president of the Voices for Planned
Parenthood, a DJ at KZUU and a facilitator at the WSU challenge course on as well
as an ASWSU Senator.
Stroup said, “I’ve always been pretty involved in activities outside of academics
because I think there’s a lot more to learning and becoming a well-rounded person
than just sitting in a classroom. Being involved in organizations on campus is so
important for a couple of reasons. I think it’s important to give back to the community
you live in, creating an investment within it and try to make it a better place
than when you got here. There are so many leadership positions on this campus and
there’s a lot of skills you can gain that will help you greatly in the future.”
She was able to educate WSU students about safe sex, held educational classes and
acted as a resource for questions. She said WSU has helped her find her way on things
she is very passionate about.
She hopes to be involved in reproductive justice and work with organizations like
Planned Parenthood, once she graduates.
