Due to the generous donations of community members, Maple Valley Library Guild sells donated books, DVDs, CDs, and video games on an ongoing basis and hosts two book/media sales annually. Proceeds support library programming for children, teens, and adults, including the ever-popular Children’s Summer Reading program and Teen Lock-Ins, along with adult speakers and entertainers. To continue to fund these special events, the Guild asks that residents bring their gently used books, DVDs, and CDs to the library front desk. Children’s books are in especially high demand.

These books and media are sold for nominal fees ranging from $.50 to $2.00, with the majority selling for $.50 - $1.00. Not only do these sales enable library users to purchase a book for less than the price of a pack of gum, but they also allow community members to play a role in reusing and recycling books and media, rather than piling them up dusty and unused. The Guild thanks residents for their donations and encourages them to visit the adult bookshelf at the library’s entrance, and the children’s book cart, which is located at the back of the library near the hallway to the meeting room.
