Maple Valley City Council chooses a new mayor, but retained the deputy mayor, for 2012-2014. Mayor Noel Gerken gave way to Bill Allison in a 5-2 vote that included Gerken, Allison, Layne Barnes and Sean P. Kelly. Deputy Mayor Victoria Laise Jonas retained her seat in a 4-3 vote that included herself, Gerken, Allison and Kelly.
