Jacob McHugh, a lifetime Maple Valley resident who attended Tahoma schools since
the first grade, has graduated from Marine Corps basic training at the Marine Corps
Recruiting Depot in San Diego. A 2011 graduate of Tahoma Senior High School, where
he lettered under the direction of wrestling Coach Chris Feist and qualified for
the league tournament in his rookie season, McHugh left for California on July 11
and completed boot camp on October 7. He graduated with the rank of private and
he earned his Expert Marksmanship Badge. Following a ten-day home leave, Private
McHugh left for Camp Pendleton where he is undergoing Marine Combat Training.
Upon completion of MCT, he will ship to Pensacola, Florida, where he will receive
an additional year of schooling as a Basic Avionics Marine, a specialization that
will qualify him to maintain the electronics systems of aircraft.
Jacob is the son of Christy McHugh and William McHugh of Maple Valley.
