Be on the lookout for the familiar MVFB&ES barrels around the community - awaiting
your Holiday food and Children’s Christmas Gift donations. Each year, MVFB&ES provides
local families in need with turkey feasts, complete with the traditional trimmings,
to take and prepare at home. Thanks to the generosity of this community, in 2010,
1148 Thanksgiving and Christmas meals were distributed. Generous community support
also stocks their special Children’s Christmas Gift “Shop” with a bounty of new,
unwrapped gifts for children from birth to age 15. In 2010, 1052 children received
Christmas gifts selected just for them by their parents or guardians. They expect
the need this holiday season to be even greater.
Please pick up a Holiday Meals flyer or Children’s Gift Tag and drop off donations
at one of many area businesses, including their facility, MV Community Center, MV
Library, Covington Library, Covington MultiCare and Fire Station No. 80, 81 or 83.
Thanksgiving food donations are needed by November 17. Christmas food and gift donations
are needed by December 15 – the earlier, the better! Monetary donations are always
welcome for the purchase of bulk and wholesale food and most needed gifts.
