Kevin Langdahl

Kevin Langdahl Maple Valley WA Kevin Andrew Langdahl, 18 years old, passed away suddenly in a car accident on September 26, 2011.

He was born on April 23, 1993 to Miles and Donna Langdahl and attended the Tahoma School District K-12. Kevin graduated on June 10, 2011.

Kevin played soccer in elementary school and lacrosse for many years into high school. He loved the water and spent his summers traveling, camping and boating with his family.

Kevin’s first and best friend was his sister Amy. Kevin loved his many friends and they were such a huge part of his life. He and his friends spent many hours in the Cedar River just out his back door. He had a huge personality, loved by many and will be greatly missed!

Kevin is survived by his parents, Sister Amy, Nana Janet McCulloch, Grandparents Orville and Marcia Langdahl, Uncle Marlyn (Kristi) Langdahl, Aunt Marjory Langdahl, Uncle Michael (Janis) Langdahl and Cousin Bryan, Uncle Terry (Marian) McCulloch and Cousins Brandon, Brent, Brice, and Payton McCulloch, Aunt Sherri McCulloch (Jeff Davis) and Cousins Stacy and Alyssa Davis, Uncle Brian McCulloch, and a large extended family in North Dakota and Kansas.

Kevin is preceded in death by his Papa Joe McCulloch and his cousin Briana Griffin.

Memorial services were held at the Maple Valley Presbyterian Church. Henrietta Senecal

Henrietta Senecal Maple Valley WA Henrietta Senecal died September 4, 2011. Born in Lark, ND, she studied nursing at nearby Jamestown College. She received a MA in Art Therapy in 1978. In retirement, she joined the United Presbyterian Church's Volunteer-in-Missions Program, serving for five years.

She is survived by husband Harvey Senecal; children Harvey, Cheryl, Jane, Tim, Rosalie and Resty; siblings Johanna, Grace, Peter,and Kathryn, 16 grandchildren, and 36 nieces and nephews. Brothers Rentz and John, son Larry and grandson Jesse preceded her in death.

Henrietta led a simply amazing life and her deep and abiding personal faith in Jesus Christ guided it all. the family requests that memorial donations be made to Friendship House, 513 N. “G” Street, Aberdeen, WA 98520.

John P. Shearer

John Phillip Shearer was born on August 2, 1946, in Pasadena, California, the son of John Becker Shearer and Mary (Hornsby) Shearer. As a young child, he started school in Germany and then returned to the United States, graduating from Tahoma High School in Maple Valley, Washington. (Class of 1964). On November 18, 1979, John was united in marriage to Janet Spencer in Wichita. He retired from Beech in 2004.

In John’ s adult years, passion and exhilaration came while riding his Harley. He was a life member of the Harley Owner’s Group. He founded the Free Wheelers Van Club and made lots of memories at truck-ins with Janet, his son, John, and all of his friends.

John P. Shearer entered into eternal rest on Monday morning, September 5, 2011 at Via Christi Regional Medical Center, St. Francis Campus in Wichita, Kansas, with his family by his side. In words of his son John, ‘he chose a beautiful day to fly.” He will be missed greatly by his loving family, dear friends and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

John is survived by his wife Janet; his son John and wife Carla of Canton, Kansas; his granddaughter Kaycie Shearer, KSU, Manhattan, Kansas; his grandson John Shearer, HCC, Hutchinson, Kansas; two sisters, Dianne Shearer of Wichita and Kathy Logan and husband Paul of Las Cruces, New Mexico; his companion, Rose, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Earl A Spofford Jr.

Earl A Spofford Jr. age 58 passed on 9/05/2011. He was a 1971 graduate of Washington High School and worked as an Electrician for the past 25 years. He resided in Ravensdale after living many years in Republic, WA. He is survived by Laura, his wife of 37 years, two children: Robert Spofford of Arlington & Angela Spofford of Ravensdale, mother Evelyn Spofford of Republic, father Earl Spofford Sr, and wife Patricia, of Spanaway, sister Elaine Srnsky of Bonney Lake, brother Edwin Spofford of Parkland, sister and brother-in-law Marci & Albert Milcoff of Tacoma, sister-in-law Jacqueline Carroll of Tacoma, step-sister Tracy Fischlin of Federal Way and step-brother Mike Williams of Spanaway. He was preceded in death by sister Ellen Spofford-Jordan. Earl was also a grandfather of two: Alexandra & Makenna. He leaves behind many aunts/uncles & cousins. A memorial service will be held at Diamond Masonic Lodge, 32523 Third Ave (Third and Baker) in Black Diamond, WA on Saturday September 24, 2011 at 11:30 am with a reception to follow.

Richard Huffman, Nov. 6, 1930 – Sept. 10, 2011

Richard Huffman Obituary Maple Valley, WA A husband of 63 years, Richard lived a life devoted to his family. He was a graduate of Franklin High School, class of ’49, an avid outdoorsman and retired as a Lieutenant in the Seattle Fire Department after 27 years of service.

Richard (Rick) Hugh Paulson

Richard Paulson Obituary Maple Valley, WA Richard (Rick) Hugh Paulson, of Shelton, WA, passed away on Saturday, September 3, 2011 at Swedish Medical Center in Seattle, WA at the age of 63. Rick battled cancer and heart disease.

Rick was Kelly and Eileen Paulson’s oldest son, born in San Diego, CA on October 7, 1947. At a very young age Rick showed a compassion for animals and loved long walks with his dogs. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing and fly tying. Rick fished on the Bering Seas for many seasons and was a successful longshoreman on the Seattle waterfront for 30 years.

Rick was a loving son, brother, husband, dad and grandpa. He is survived by his Father, Kelly Paulson; sister, Carol Paulson; brother Doug Paulson; his wife, Roxanne Wright; his children, Jeremy and Jennifer Jacobs; and many grandchildren. Rick was preceded in death by his loving mother, Eileen Paulson.

Evelyn Pauline Richardson

Evelyn Pauline Richardson passed away on August 27, 2011 at Valley General Hospital surrounded by her family. Evelyn was born in Vancouver, B.C. on June 20, 1917. She married Ernest Andrew Richardson on December 31, 1937 in Seattle, Washington.

They lived in Black Diamond since 1946. They raised 3 children: LaValle (Richardson) Marshall of Renton, Ernest RIchardson of Maple Valley and Dennis Richardson of Black Diamond.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Sept. 3 at Greenwood Memorial, located at 350 Monroe Ave NE, Renton.

Friends and family gathered after the Funeral at the Masonic Hall in Black Diamond.

Marylynn Evelyn McEwen O’Brien

6-5-31 to 8-27-11

Marylynn Evelyn (McEwen) O’Brien, 80, was born in Conrad, Montana and passed away in Renton, WA. She was married for 50 years to Donald O’Brien until his death in 1998. Prior to moving to Renton, they lived in Maple Valley for 22 years.

Marylynn was a homemaker who loved cooking and she made the best cookies, cinnamon rolls, breads and biscuits. During their younger years, they loved to go camping, hunting and salmon fishing out of Westport together.

She bowled for years at the Hillcrest bowl and made many friends there.

Marylynn was preceded in death by her husband, Donald and sister Blanche Fore.

She is survived by two daughters, Linda Bellmore (Robert) and Diane O’Brien (Jay Hale), one brother, Frank Ralph (Helen) and four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and extended family.

Graveside services will be at Greenwood Memorial Park, 350 Monroe Ave NE, Renton on Wednesday, Sept. 7 at noon.

The family would like to thank Swedish Hospice for their helpful guidance with Mom’s final care. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her.

Nancy Jean (Nash) Hansen

image Nancy Jean (Nash) Hansen of Maple Valley died August 23 of complications from non-Hodgkin lymphoma. Born in Friday Harbor, Wash., on April 16, 1934, she was 77.

Nancy grew up on San Juan Island, where many islanders were relatives and everyone else was a friend. She visited the mainland just twice before her senior trip to Lake Wilderness with the Friday Harbor High School class of 1953.

On Feb. 20, 1954, Nancy married Raymond Leon Hansen, a Montanan who had joined the Coast Guard because he wanted to see Alaska, but was sent to Friday Harbor instead.

The couple settled in Seattle, where Ray worked for Boeing. In 1966, they bought acreage near Lake Webster and three years later moved into a house they built with the help of friends and family. In later years, Nancy and Ray traveled extensively.

Nancy is preceded in death by Ray and her parents, John and Edna Nash, as well as her four siblings: Patricia, William (Jackie), Richard and Robert. She is survived by her sons, all graduates of Tahoma schools: John (and LaDonna) and Keith (and Chris) of Maple Valley, Dan (and Pam) of Spokane and Rodney (and Dawn) of Pasco. She was blessed with nine grandchildren and two great-granddaughters.

A celebration of Nancy’s life is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 10, at Maple Valley Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Maple Valley Food Bank.

Daniel C. Johnson

A Ravensdale resident, formerly of Maple Valley, Daniel Johnson, 83, passed away peacefully a Auburn Regional Medical Center on Sept. 4, 2011.

Daniel was born in New York in 1928. He proudly served his country during the Korean War as a Naval Aviator, earning among other decorations, the Air Medal with two stars. He was shot down over North Korea and rescued by helicopter. He retired from the Navy as a commander.

Daniel graduated from Brown University and earned a Master’s degree in computer Systems. After his retirement from the Navy, he moved to Maple Valley in 1972 and taught at Green River Community College. He moved to Ravensdale in 1985.

He enjoyed bird hunting, and fishing. He loved wildlife and was a member of Ducks Unlimited.

He is survived by his daughter, Carol Johnson, his grandson James Johnson and his sisters Collette Taylor and Virginia Tedford.

Services will be held on Tuesday, September 13 at 1 p.m. at the Tahoma National Cemetery.

Lee Allen Jamieson

image May 24, 1945 – August 8, 2011

Lee was a proud man serving not only America but also a soldier who ended up fighting the battle of cancer and Agent Orange of Viet Nam days.

He is survived and remembered dearly by his parents, Willard and Jessie Jamieson, his two sisters: Leona (Gary) Wisdom-Elton, Vicki (Bismark) Campbell-Mensah, step brother & sisters, Dick (Terri) Garrett Jr., Yvonne (Tom) Manhart, and Marsha Richter along with many nephews, nieces and close friends who will remember him as being enriched by his musical career as The Lee Jamieson Band, followed later as The Wolfgang Band, throughout Washington.

He lived most his life in the surrounding areas of the Valley driving trucks with Willard Jamieson Logging before his career in sales throughout the greater King County area.

Lee will always be in our hearts as a proud American man with love for many. The Family members ask you to join them at the Tahoma National Cemetery, in Kent, WA. Friday, Sept. 16, 2011 at 1:45 p.m.

A short gathering for Potluck will be held at the Eagles Hall in Black Diamond at 3:00 for those who wish to attend.

Lyle R. Colter

image Lyle R. Colter, beloved husband, father, grandfather and successful businessman passed away peacefully with family by his side at his daughter’s home in Kent, Washington on September 1, 2011 at the age of 76.

He was born to Agnes Anderson and William Colter on January 27, 1935 in Council Bluffs, Iowa and was happily married to Dolores Colter for 47 years. He is survived by his wife Dolores, son Mark Colter, daughter and son-in-law Tracy & Rick Carpenter, daughter Lisa Colter, and his two grandchildren, Austin and Ashley Carpenter. Lyle is also survived by many brothers and sisters: Terry Eggers, Doug Eggers, Jeff Eggers, Charlene Vandergrift, Candy Kerber and Doreen Guinan.

Lyle served in the Navy from 1952-1958 and was in the Korean War on the USS LeRay Wilson. After discharge he was in the USNR until 1960. After the military he was a manager for Safeway in Portland, Oregon then moved to Longview, Washington to manage the Prairie Market. After being a successful manager, he purchased a small business and turned it into a very successful auto repair shop, named Lil’ Car Hospital in Kelso, Washington which he managed along with his wife for 40 years.

He was not only a successful businessman but also a loving family man. He had 3 children and fulfilled his dreams of sending them thru college. He was an extremely hard worker, and instilled a great amount of love and encouragement to his family so they could have the best life possible.

In his spare time he loved gardening and working in the yard. He appreciated almost every kind of plant out there, and could always find room for one more plant in his yard. He enjoyed spending time at his cabin, boating, and being with family. He also enjoyed going to movies or watching movies at home with his family and watching his daughter Lisa play in tennis tournaments.

In 2006 Lyle and Dolores moved up to the Black Diamond area so they could be closer to their children and grandchildren. They helped watched their grandchildren and became very involved in watching sporting events, having fun at hockey games, Mariner games and different site seeing around Seattle.

His wonderful smiles, love, encouragement and words of wisdom will greatly be missed.

A family and friends viewing was held at Edline & Yahn Covington Funeral Chapel at 27221 156th Ave SE, Kent, Washington between 11 a.m. & 1 p.m. with a military service at Tahoma National Cemetery, 18600 SE 240th St. Kent, Wa. at 2 p.m. on September 12, 2011. A Celebration of his life was held at Gloria’s restaurant in Maple Valley at 3 p.m.

Jane Albrey Pace

Jane Albrey Pace was born in Spokane, Washington on December 27, 1937. She passed away peacefully surrounded by family and loved ones late on August 31, 2011 She was 73 years old. Jane is survived by her beloved husband of 54 years, Ed; their three children, Ted Pace, Rhonda (Greg) English, Renee (Jeff) Pace, their four grandchildren, Danielle, Dustin, Kaylee and Houston; her sister, Virginia Schneidmiller and numerous nieces and nephews. Jane’s passing follows that of her beloved grandson Eddie Bowe Pace.

Jane had been part of the Crescent Bar community for over 35 years. She was the brain behind the books at Crescent Bar Resort, working over 25 years at the place she loved. In her later years, Jane divided her time between Quincy and her much loved Mazatlan, Mexico home. Jane always welcomed family and friends with open arms. She was full of love and devotion but always told it like it was, no nonsense. You knew where you stood with Nana. Spencer Barry St. Germain

image Spencer was born in Dover, Delaware on June 22, 1995 and passed away on September 4, 2011 in Seattle, WA after a valiant fight with leukemia. Although only sixteen years old, Spencer lived a lifetime of servitude to the Lord, with a wisdom well beyond his years. Spencer was greatly loved by all who knew him and was an active member of New Community’s youth group, Tahoma High School cross-country and track team and the National Honor Society. He is survived by his mother, Jacqueline, father Barry and twin sister, Maria St.Germain; grandparents Maria De Leon and June (Steve) Baker; aunts Sandra (Bruce) Anderson, Lori (Robert) Galindo, Lana De Leön, and Christine Baer; uncles Gilbert, Jorge (Kim), and Nick; cousins Brittney and Brooke Baer, Karina, Marco, George, Jimmy, Amber, Nicholas, Victor and Brandon De Leon, Darcy Collicker, Amy Homan, and Andy and Alexandra Galindo. A celebration of his life will be held at the New Life Church (15711 152nd Ave SE Renton, WA 98058) on Saturday, Sept 10th 2011 at 2pm with Pastor Ken Mitchell officiating.
