They were talking dirt! – at the Greater Maple Valley-Black Diamond Chamber of Commerce’s
monthly luncheon held on Wednesday, September 21, at Lake Wilderness Lodge. Nationally
recognized for their organic recycling efforts, Cedar Grove Composting’s Susan Thoman,
Director of Corporate Business Development and Communications, was the featured
speaker at the luncheon. Working in the environmental and recycling field since
1986, Thoman brought her passion for recycling into her presentation that included
a brief history of recycling, challenges facing the site at Cedar Grove, evolution
of the process and what the future is unfolding in the business of composting. It
was also stated that although there were a number of patrols in the area surrounding
the site checking for odors, they still wanted to hear from the community when it
comes to odor. Pictured front L-R: Susan Thoman, Karen Dawson, Community Outreach
